In 1929, construction
commenced on a
four-story apartment
building at 659 West
Wrightwood Avenue
in Chicago's Lincoln
Park neighborhood.
But one could argue
that it would not realize
its full potential until
2018, when it opened
as the rechristened
contemporary exhibition
space Wrightwood 659, a
stunning reconfiguration
of its former self, by
Osaka-based architect
Tadao Ando.
