in Napa," points out real estate agent Christa Lyons.
"I wanted to do something that stands out from
the rest of the homes in the neighborhood," Morris
says of the five-bedroom spread. "I was going for
a dark, modern farmhouse style with some rustic
elements, and industrial elements as well, to give
it a lot of personality." At the curbside, traditional
notes—vertical siding and a gable roof—mesh
with a Modernist glass scheme and a box-shaped
garage clad in tumbled limestone, its door made of
reclaimed wood laid out in a herringbone pattern.
("How the limestone captures the light at night is
kind of amazing," notes Morris.)
Step inside, and one enters an airy, sunlit
world—a departure from the home's moody, textured
exterior. "It's a house of contrasts," Morris remarks.
"e light and dark." e floor plan is oriented around
the endless bird's-eye views that are the hallmark
of this home, and a palette of white, gray and blue
backdrops a kaleidoscope of light designs and moods.
By day, crisp views of the sky and ocean stream in
