By the early 2000s, he determined that, as he puts it, land- scape design and architecture was "my ultimate passion in the world of design, and I quickly real- ized this field was exactly where I wanted to live out my career." Standing out among his recent designs is a complete backyard renovation and transforma- tion in Manhattan Beach. is concept included conver ting an overgrow n, shaded, dysf unc- tional and flat yard—complete with a muddy lawn, cramped concrete dining area and gigantic trampoline that hadn't been used in years—into a resort-style oasis replete with a large pergola sporting overhead heating and LED lighting, bar, kitchen and dining area; dipping pool and oversized Jacuzzi (with an underground equip- ment vault); built-in concrete seating area next to a fire-pit; concrete planters with custom plant selections; and landscape lighting. "ey said they were tired of their flat, boring yard, and they asked us to fit in pretty much all of the outdoor items we prefer executing for our clients," says Stimpfig.
