ocated in the chic London
neighborhood of Mayfair, Hélène
Darroze at e Connaught is a
culinary reference, not only in the U.K. but
also worldwide. is past October saw the
inauguration of a new space—along with
a new menu—to celebrate the restaurant's
10th anniversary. Designed by Paris-based
interior architect Pierre Yovanovitch, the
interiors reflect a balance between tradition
and modernity with a feminine touch to pay
tribute to the chef 's spirit. "e design of
the restaurant is, in many ways, a reflection
of Hélène's cuisine, with elegance and
exceptional, locally-sourced quality at the core
of the space," says Yovanovitch. "e interior
combines handworked woods, ceramics, blown
glass as well as contemporary craft techniques,
all custom-made from artisan makers located
throughout Europe." e existing dark wood
paneling was lightened while the plasterwork
was transformed with a warm pink gradient
color. Banquette seating is upholstered in
leather and velvet; custom tables are made of
oak and ceramic with a lacquered metal base,
and ceiling lights feature hand-blown glass and
wrought iron lacquered in blue. In addition
to the main dining space, Yovanovitch also
created a new Armagnac Room and chef 's
table food and wine-pairing area adorned
with terrazzo flooring, contemporary light
oak wood paneling, a fresco commissioned
to artist Rochegaussen and lamps by Matteo
