I was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 18, 1969.
I mention the date for a few reasons: I like the fact that I was born in the sixties...
even if, technically, it was the last two weeks of the decade. There was so much going on culturally,
artistically, musically... there was a sense of unrest, a desire to question authority, to speak out and act
against injustices, a need to express oneself. Sound familiar? I always like telling people that I was born
in the sixties, because, as an adult and a professional, I associate so closely with many of the anthems
which came to define that decade... And, as much, being born in the sixties meant my youth was spent
in the seventies and my teens in the eighties... My love of music and my fascination of and appreciation for
counter-culture and rebel lifestyles is rooted in my childhood experiences...
When I was a year and a half old, my family moved from Cleveland to Los Angeles, and so I was influenced
by the Southern California lifestyle and wild freedoms that came to define my generation, "X". I cannot
imagine a more impactful environment from which to learn and mature as an architect and designer...
