6.3.2022 | DIGS.NET 53 M A R K E T "Every year my sales went up, and soon I reached the Chairman's Club," says Crystal of the commis- sions-based award received from her longtime former brokerage, RE/MA X. In 2011 she moved to Palos Verdes, drawn to the coastal beauty of the area, and a desire to flex more of the professional skills she'd honed over the years. Skills such as negotiation, which Crystal used handily while managing the sales and claims departments of a insurance company. —ere's also marketing, a focus for Crystal since her early days of real estate. "At the beginning of my career, I was the one stuffing two thousand envelopes in my living room," she recalls with a laugh. Nowadays, client testimonials praise Chen's 24/7 responsiveness and her quick knack for reading situ- ations and prescribing solutions. "We need to know people—and know their needs," she says of real estate. "My whole life has been in customer service, so once I meet someone, I understand what they need and get things done for them." For Crystal, real estate is more than just buying and selling properties. It consists of an entire business world she navigates with ease, from lenders to vendors. "I want people to know I can help them with any of their real estate needs," she explains. "Whether they want to sell or buy, remodel or rebuild. I don't care if it's an one-hundred-thousand-dollar home or a ten-million-dollar home." Her territory, too, is just as expansive. "My main area is Palos Verdes Peninsula, but I still cover all of Southern California," notes the agent, pointing to transactions spanning from the South Bay to Riverside; and from the San Fernando Valley to San Diego. "—ey're all refer- rals," she points out. Clients too are diverse in terms of background, and though she speaks Mandarin fluently, Crystal explains that "only about ten percent of my customers are Chinese." For Crystal Chen, the last few years were spent person- ally caring for her elderly parents with hands-on attentiveness through the end of their lives. —roughout this time, she still kept a sharp focus on real estate, even ranking among the 2021 America's Best Real Estate Professionals list produced by RealTrends + Tom Ferry, which ranks the top 1.5% of the 1.4 million real estate pros in the nation. —is year, however, has been a time of new beginnings. She recently opened a new brokerage, Crystal Real Estate, where she's transacting new busi- ness, and in typical go-getter fashion, she's energized by her next chapter of real estate. "It's natural for me," she says with her good-natured directness. "I am very comfortable taking care of everything."
