I Ri Hope you enjoy! Warren J Dow | Publisher wdow@southbaydigs.com | 310.373.0142 P U B L I S H E R ' s M U S E Architect | Design | Build 2014 Our 100 th issue. Our Annual Year-End Architect | Design | Build Edition is a milestone achievement for DIGS, our marketing partners, our readers and the local community — it's our 100th issue and it's our biggest and best magazine we have ever published! I can't help but think of the line in the Talking Heads song "Once in a Lifetime" — …"And you may ask yourself, Well…How did I get here?" It's been a whirlwind of a journey, four years in the making. Along the way, I have had the honor and privilege to deepen my relationship with the South Bay, a relationship I started in the summer of 1990 having just graduated from UC Santa Barbara and looking to find my place in the World. What I've found some 25 years later, is that the South Bay is a very unique and special place — as strong a community as you find anywhere. DIGS is all about celebrating the homes, the people, the history, the places and the wonderful South Bay community. Your DIGS are where you reside, and we believe that's the foundation and strongest link in the community chain that bonds us all. Cheers to you...South Bay! In this special 100th edition of DIGS, we have an amazing editorial line-up. On the Cover is the WILLIAM FORD HACIENDA designed by noted architect Paul Revere Williams and currently listed for sale by Crosby Doe Associates, (see details page 19). Williams (1894-1980) was a celebrated architect to the stars who designed more than 2000 homes in Southern California whose homes are still highly sought after today. Learn about Williams' strong connection to the South Bay in our feature article starting on page 109. Get to know Los Angeles based "home stager to the stars," Meridith Baer, as we sit down for an exclusive interview starting on page 149. In our local spotlight, we highlight "ON THE BOARDS" architect | design | build projects that are currently in development or under construction in the South Bay — see what the locals are up to starting on page 129. Inside, we will also uncover some "REQUIRED READING" books on architecture, showcase some "COOL STUFF" must have accessories for the home, spotlight some of the most noted architecture currently "ON THE MARKET" from all over the World, explore some amazing "PRE-FAB | MODULAR" home designs, and celebrate AIA designated "HISTORIC & CASE STUDY HOMES." Thank you. South Bay DIGS would like to sincerely THANK all of our advertisers and readers for your much-valued support over the last four years — our passion to "connect" the local real estate community grows deeper every year! We also would like to thank the South Bay community — we're deeply honored and blessed to be able to continue to serve you and we're committed to keep innovating and adding value to our partnership. Last but not least, thank you to our growing team at DIGS — a truly amazing and talented group of individuals who continue to dream big and deliver world class products and services to our clients. Westside...here we come. In the coming year, we are excited to expand DIGS to the Westside where we'll be serving the real estate communities of Playa Vista, Playa Del Rey, Venice, Marina Del Rey, Santa Monica, Malibu, Pacific Palisades and Brentwood. Our unique and innovative "next gen" media platform continues to grow in both scope and scale, but we will always stay true to our central mission – adding value to our marketing partners. We feel a fiduciary responsibility to grow together…" a rising tide lifts all boats." Exciting times ahead… Happy holidays & may all your real estate dreams come true in 2015. 24 ARCHITECT | DESIGN | BUILD 12.19.2014
