WR I T T E N BY R ACH E L D OTS ON
Firewood falls into one of two categories — hardwood or softwood. Hardwoods are very dense and have
high energy per volume, which means they burn longer and hotter than their less-dense counterparts, the
softwoods. For this reason, each of the firewood we profile is a hardwood, with the exception of cedar.
There is nothing quite like sitting by a warm fire in the wintertime.
Whether you're in the mood for high heat or low, sweet aromas or rich notes, there is a firewood for you.
With winter just getting underway, there is plenty of time to experiment with all of our favorite types of firewood.
