12.16.2016 | DIGS.NET 167 A priority when visiting is pampering oneself at the incredible Jasha Spa & Salon. The breathtaking facility is an indoor-outdoor concept of more than 6,500 square feet. Features include plunge pools, private Jacuzzis and a long list of treatments. Interestingly, the spa even offers services for kids and massage lessons. As part of the spa experience, Jasha offers something as indulgent as it is indigenous: the ancient, pre-Hispanic temazcal ritual. Used for purposes of healing and promoting good health by the Aztecs, the session takes place in a sweat lodge. As for families, Olson has crafted the ideal property with brilliant kids' spaces. The indoor kids' zones and video zones have a hip architectural feel, while the teens' dance floor room and video game pods with circa 1960 sentiment boast a contemporary vibe. Interesting architectural components are just as visible outdoors. Take the centrally located grass amphitheater. "There are a wide variety of places on the site that encourage activities like children's play in creative pools, stories and music," Olson explains. "The grass amphitheater was conceived as a space for music and storytelling. It is really the theater of the resort." There's great drama elsewhere, however. The crescendo to any beach resort is its pools, and whether you are on a romantic getaway or on a family vacation, the JW Marriott fulfills this wish with plenty of places to plunge. Take a dip in the South Side infinity pool just off the beach, or enjoy a cocktail at the Kaha Bar in the adult pool while the children indulge in their very own splash zone. As all pools are serene, Olson recommends swimming from one pool to the next throughout the resort. Reason alone to make the trip. Other amenities Olson recommends for the discerning guest is the Library, where one can escape the heat and read, the fire-pit table ocean side and the Horizon Bar. One can't miss the golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman either, of course; here, culinary palapas provide the unusual experience of having a chef and a bartender at each hole. The JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa is rich in local tradition and sets the stage for an authentic experience in modern surroundings. Given that Olson has previously stated his intent to have the buildings "grow out of the environment," it seems that guests of the resort are destined to grow in the experience it offers on tranquil Puerto Los Cabos beach.
