Fixed with thoughtfully placed windows and sliding glass doors, it is airy and bright with sunlight, supporting sublime indoor/outdoor living when opened to the magnanimous covered balcony with exuberant ocean view. The wood accent wall and Beaumanière Limestone floor here are chic motifs repeated throughout the home. Inside, light casts beautifully about, high- lighting the living room with fireplace, a dining area with statement lighting, and the bold showcase kitchen. "Upstairs, we went a little darker," Alta- mura says of the change in mood that culminates in the kitchen with a centrally set kitchen island (and backsplash) of Sara- toga soapstone and top-line appliances from the likes of Miele and more. Notable for its contrasting tone, the kitchen features panels of espresso-stained cabinetry that visually help expand the space while giving it a clean, unfussy look that chimes with the soapstone countertops with marble detail. While the space is no shrinking violent, skylights and upper windows make it feel lighter than even the boldest black. "I will always have a love affair with the kitchen," says Hartmann. Altamura, on the other hand, has a passion for the powder bath on this floor. Doused in jewel-box burgundy, the space is small in size but big on vibes, done floor to ceiling in glossy Crème Brûlée tiles for a mesmerizing, light-reflecting depth, juxta- posed with lustrous brass hardware and a Nero Marquina stone countertop with inte- grated sink. Beach level takes on an entirely different tone, set by a limewash wall that marks the media room, with built-in bar, that opens to the vibrant ocean-view patio where you can rinse off sandy feet after a day at the beach. "It's a great place to entertain," Altamura says. "At the same time, there's multiple ways you can use this room." Including as a guest room with access to another beau- tiful bath, done in custom Nero Marquina herringbone tiles, below on the ground floor, which gives way to two additional well-lit bedrooms (one en-suite with a Dolce Cala- catta bath) and a two-car garage, as well. "It's a dream pied-à-terre for someone who appreciates authenticity and under- stated charisma," Hartmann says of the house, which comes with cutting-edge tech- nology throughout. "It's strong but sincere. A reflection of Vince." A R C H I T E C T U R E + D E S I G N
